Itty and Freddy

Featuring Freddy the Flirtatious Feline!

Itty and Freddy was a short, one-minute animation made in collaboration with Ashli Hudson telling the story of Freddy, a confident and flirtation cat, as he tries to woo a local pretty-pawed, artistic cat named Itty as they meet eyes in a coffee (or should I say PAW-fee) shop.

Itty

Itty was based on my cat of the same name, Itty. Itty was the prettiest kitty in the entire world (you cannot change my mind) and she seemed like perfect inspiration for the cat of Freddy's unforunate desire. Itty was spoiled and had a little bit of sass to her, and her status as an art college student in this animation was inspired by Ashli's and my time at college.

Wilfred

Freddy was based on Wilfred Warrior, a Chinchilla Persian who skyrocketed to popularity after the infamous internet video "MA, THERE'S A WEIRD LOOKIN' CAT OUTSIDE." I absolutely adored this video, and he seemed like perfect inspiration for a character.

Character model sheet of the best character ever created in animation, Itty.

Itty's expression sheet. She was nowhere near this expressive in real life, but she was still just as cute.

He's beauty, he's grace, he'll spill coffee on his face, it's the character model sheet for Freddy.

Inspired by highly-rendered detail shots intended to be ugly for comedic purposes (called "Gross-ups" a la Ren and Stimpy and Spongebob Squarepants), I painted this image for a shot in the animation.
